CHOOSING THE RIGHT PROPS FOR YOUR HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR SESSION
Have you ever thought about adding props to your Senior Portrait session? Props can add interest, depth, and an extra flair to your pictures. For example, get your high school Senior to hold coordinating flowers for a spring or summer shoot. Love sports? Then use baseball bats in your next session to bring out your passion. Adore painting? Brushes and a paint palette are excellent picture additions. Whatever your hobby or interest, bring items with you, and your photographer will help to incorporate them into the images tastefully.
Here are a few tips for incorporating props in your next photo session.
1. It’s all about YOU:
Keep in mind that the session is about you and not only the props. But props do tell a story. So while the entire session shouldn’t be filled with props, adding them to a few shots here and there will help tell your HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR story FOREVER!
2. Wear them:
Not all props fall into this category, but sometimes a prop (something we’ll use to tell your story of your high school senior year) is a “wearable.” This might include:
- A leather jacket
- Graduation cap & gown
- Your favorite college shirt
- A prom dress
- A sport, band, dance/theater, or cheer uniform
3. YOUR FAVORITE THINGS
Think about all the things you love and your hobbies. Then, think about what you use every day and what you LOVE. Any prop that says “Hey, this is me” falls into this category.
4. PERSONALITY.
And finally… Use your PERSONALITY as a prop to make your senior pictures 100% you. Don’t be shy, and don’t hold back! You are unique, and don’t be afraid to show it!
